The child welfare service must consent to the dialogue process, and it is also voluntary for the service to attend. The person representing the child welfare service at the meeting must be authorised to enter into agreements with the private parties to the case. The child welfare service can withdraw its consent to the dialogue process at any time, including while temporary arrangements are being tried out.
The child welfare service
In the dialogue process, the child welfare service attends meetings with the private parties to the case to gain an understanding of each party's situation and to improve communication between them. That gives the child welfare service the opportunity to strengthen its understanding of the private parties’ points of view, and together attempt to arrive at good solutions in the child’s best interests.
